No dia em que apresentou o iPhone, em 2007, disse: “Este é o dia pelo qual eu esperei durante dois anos e meio. (…) Hoje a Apple vai reinventar o telefone”. E assim foi, os 12 anos seguintes falam por si e o iPhone é, nos dias de hoje, a maior referência no segmento dos smartphones. Para isso muito contribui ser o produto com maior valor simbólico: quem tem um não tem apenas um device, tem inovação e status na mão quando pega nele. É isso que o iPhone significa na realidade, para além do óbvio 🙂
iPhone (2007) vs iPhone 11 (2019)
As grandes diferenças entre estes dois modelos podem identificar-se olhando para inúmeros atributos importantes. No entanto há quatro que são fundamentais para definir um smartphone e para os quais vamos olhar: funções, design, armazenamento e preço.
E começando pelas funções percebemos que elas mudaram bastante. É verdade que continuamos a aceder à internet, ao e-mail, à câmara fotográfica, entre outras coisas. Mas mudou para melhor a forma como o fazemos: com mais opções e com uma qualidade incomparável. No iPhone original havia apenas a câmara traseira, com 2MP de resolução. No iPhone 11 há três – todas com 12MP, com lentes de altíssima qualidade e possibilitando variações angulares interessantes: a da frente é fixa mas atrás existe a possibilidade de escolher entre fotografar com uma lente grande-angular e ainda uma ultra grande-angular! Na versão Pro, uma novidade deste último lançamento, são mesmo quatro as câmaras. A juntar a esta evolução há… o surgimento do vídeo. No primeiro iPhone a função não existia mas neste último existe e em todas as câmaras, com uma resolução sempre superior ao FULL HD, quer nas câmaras traseiras quer na frontal. Tudo isto tornou possível que haja, hoje em dia, programas de televisão, curtas-metragens, documentários e até filmes filmados com iPhones. Incrível! 🙂
No que toca ao design, devo dizer que apesar das claras optimizações, a filosofia do primeiro modelo ainda está lá e é relevante! Estando perto do iPhone 11 vemos um smartphone maior, mais fino, com um ecrã grande (muito maior que o primeiro) e construído com materiais nobres e que possibilitam uma durabilidade mais alargada. A maior diferença é a inexistência no botão “home”, sendo agora o smartphone totalmente controlado através da utilização de software. O que podemos concluir é que o iPhone sempre foi uma peça de design muito apelativa – e em comparação com o primeiro modelo este último é uma versão muitíssimo melhorada e adaptada aos novos tempos e sobretudo ao consumo massivo que se faz de conteúdos multimédia no smartphone. Todos já passámos horas a ver televisão, no YouTube, na Netflix ou HBO, certo?!
O armazenamento é um aspecto bastante importante e que também diferencia a Apple da sua concorrência. Os devices da marca são muitas vezes criticados por não permitirem a utilização de cartões de memória – que são a forma melhor e mais barata de expandir a capacidade de armazenamento. Por outro lado também aqui houve uma evolução tremenda. Em 2007 o iPhone foi lançado em três diferentes versões: 4, 8 e 16 gigabytes. Já em 2019 as três versões são com 64, 128 e 256 gigabytes. Uma diferença abismal e que se justifica perfeitamente pelo facto de os conteúdos terem agora muito mais qualidade e… “peso”! Qualquer vídeo que gravemos com uma definição alta (mas absolutamente normal) para o Instagram tem facilmente 50, 100 ou 200MB 😉
E finalmente… o preço. Se tudo o resto mudou e muito para melhor, faz sentido que o preço tenha também aumentado. Enquanto que o iPhone 1 custava cerca de 400 dólares, o iPhone 11 vai custar entre 699 e 849 dólares!
Depois de tudo isto a pergunta de um milhão de euros é esta: vale a pena o investimento? A resposta não é fácil mas a verdade é que depende da utilização que se pretende dar. Se for para usar massivamente/profissionalmente as funções principais… acredito que sim 🙂
